About

My husband and I have been married for 20 years. We have three beautiful teenagers who bring laughter and light into our world–and maybe a few gray hairs too! We are “wanna be farmers,” but everyone who knows me realizes that I’m much too similar to Fern in Charlotte’s Web to be a real farmer! All of our animals have names are are like family members, so in spite of my husband’s desire and abilities, our animals are more like pets. We have horses, pigs, and dogs, but the family is ever-growing. We are native Coloradans and though we’ve grown to love our home in Texas over the 8 years we’ve lived here, Colorado will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love our church, and we are truly thankful for the family we have created there. We’re going on 6 years at LCA and we really love this community!

Favorite Bible Verse

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”     Ephesians 2:10

My Education

I describe myself as a chronic student because I love to learn, and I go all in when I find a topic of interest. This explains my diverse background and abundance of schooling–I simply love to learn! I started my undergraduate work at the University of San Diego and later transferred to the University of Denver where I double majored in philosophy and sociology with a criminology concentration. I continued my education at DU, receiving my MS in Applied Social Research & Evaluation, which is a dual education/sociology degree. Later, I studied Interior Design at the Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia. After various wonderful and varied job experiences, I began teaching, and I can hardly believe that this is my 12th year teaching. Over the years, I have been blessed by the most outstanding students and families, and I truly love playing even a small role in their lives.

Fun Facts/Hobbies

When I was 8, I tried to run off to join the circus as a trapeze artist! 🙂

Cherishing LCA

My favorite thing as a mom is the authentic spiritual enrichment and mentoring provided through Higher Ground, FNL, and other Student Life events. Truly, this is the heart of the school, and has had a huge impact on all three of my kids. As a teacher, my favorite thing is to incorporate Biblical Truth into each and every day. I feel very honored to speak into the lives of my students, aka: my “other kids,” who I cherish and for whom I’m so thankful.
