I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about me and my family. My husband and I just celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary. We have 2 children. Our son attended LCA starting in 3rd grade and graduated in the spring of 2015. Our daughter is in 7th grade this year. She is PURE JOY! This past summer, our son married his college sweetheart. They have a crazy, adorable dog named Finley.
Among my favorite Bible verses, Psalm 91 stands out, especially verses 1-4 & 9-12: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart…If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone…”
I grew up in “Colorful Colorado.” I received my BA in elementary education from a small private school in Waverly, Iowa called Wartburg College. After beginning my teaching adventures in Darlington, Wisconsin as a first grade teacher, I never imagined that my compass would point me south to the “friendship” state of TEXAS. I taught in Allen ISD as a 5th and 6th grade teacher before finally landing at Lucas Christian Academy.
Growing up in Colorado, I fell in love with nature and the mountains. During my teen years, my dad ran an outfitting business. We packed guests into the Rocky Mountains. It was basically a “mountain cruise” on horseback. Being surrounded by all of God’s splendor and glory was the greatest adventure. Although I didn’t dare to mention it to my mom until after college, I fell down a pretty good-sized waterfall WITH my horse…and lived to tell about it! I’m not sure whether to blame this on my “strong-headed” Arabian stallion or my own vanity …due to not wearing my glasses so I could get a “tan”! Today, I love to hike with my family, especially when the hikes take us back to my Rocky Mountain stomping grounds. I am a lover of books and cherish every minute I can soaking up adventures amid the pages of a great tale! My grandest love & hobby is my family…FAMILY-anything is my go-to! This year I am focusing on CHOOSING JOY!
