I’m a fifth generation native Texan who grew up in the Dallas suburbs. I’m married to a Wylie Fire Rescue Captain who also teaches at a local fire academy. We have two children and two Labrador retrievers who fill our lives with joy and adventure.
“I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 (HCSB)
I received my BA in Literary Studies Cum Laude from UT Dallas and have taught at LCA since 2009.
I write fiction and enjoy reading, tent camping, hiking, and photography. I also enjoy a good kettlebell workout, tacos with friends, walking with my dogs at sunrise, and studying 19th and early 20th century literature and history. Spiritual formation is deeply important to me, particularly through the practice of the spiritual disciplines that cultivate virtue and a quiet, more natural pace of life.
When God created everything, He created through spoken words ‐ the Word, and the Story He began telling in that moment continues through each of us as He shapes the narrative of our lives. I believe in the redemptive power of storytelling, which is what drew me to LCA. Here, I get to participate in that act of storytelling in the lives of our students one class at a time.
