Amanda Johnston

My husband is a driver/paramedic with Fire Rescue and an instructor at a Fire Academy. I have a daughter, son and a black lab.

Favorite Bible Verse

“I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 (HCSB)

My Education

I received my BA in Literary Studies Cum Laude from UT Dallas and have taught at LCA since 2009.

Fun Facts/Hobbies

I write fiction and enjoy reading, tent camping, hiking, and photography. I also enjoy a good kettlebell workout, tacos with friends, walking with my dog at sunrise, and studying 19th and early 20th century literature and history. Spiritual formation is deeply important to me, particularly through the practice of the spiritual disciplines. I am drawn to practicing spiritual habits that cultivate virtue and a quiet, more natural pace of life.

Cherishing LCA

When God created everything, He created through word ‐ the Word, and the Story He began telling in that moment continues through each of us as He shapes the narrative of our lives. I believe in the redemptive power of storytelling, which is what drew me to LCA. This school provides me with the place where I do what I love: participate in the redemptive power of storytelling.
